Rateraide — Privacy Policy

Rateraide ("the extension," "we," "our") is a time-tracking tool for search-quality raters. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and where it goes. In short: everything stays on your own computer, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you personally choose to back up to your own Google Drive.

1. Summary

• All data is collected, stored, processed, and kept locally on your device, and only locally.
• We operate no servers and receive no data from you. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, and no advertising.
• The only time any data leaves your device is if you explicitly enable the optional Google Drive backup. In that case a single backup file is saved to your own Google Drive account, and that data is then handled under Google's privacy policy.
• Your data is used solely to track your rating activity, task counts, and times — and for no other purpose whatsoever.

2. What data the extension handles

To provide time tracking, the extension records and computes, locally:

• Work sessions: start/stop times, durations, and the earnings/AET totals you configure.
• Per-task information observed on raterhub.com: task type, acquisition and submission times, and task counts.
• Your settings/preferences (for example, hourly rate, display options, sounds).

This information is derived from the pages you are already viewing on raterhub.com and from your own activity. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

3. Where your data is stored

• All of the above is stored in the browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device.
• The extension contains no code that sends your session data, browsing data, or personal information to the developer or to any third-party service.

4. Optional Google Drive backup

• The extension offers an optional, user-initiated backup so you do not lose your history. It is off unless you turn it on.
• When you enable it and sign in with Google, the extension uses Google OAuth with the narrow drive.file scope and writes a single JSON file (rateraide_2_0_sync_data.json) containing your own session data to your own Google Drive.
• The drive.file scope restricts the extension to only the files it itself creates; it cannot read or access any of your other Google Drive files.
• Once stored in your Google Drive, that data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and your Google account settings. We do not have access to it, and you can delete the backup file from your Drive at any time.
• If you never enable this feature, no data ever leaves your device.

5. What we do NOT do

• We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your data.
• We do not use analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or advertising.
• We do not send data to the developer or to any third-party server.
• We do not use your data for any purpose other than tracking your rating activity and times.

6. Network access

The extension's host permissions are limited to:

• https://*.raterhub.com/* — to observe your task pages locally for time tracking (read-only; nothing is sent to us).
• https://www.googleapis.com/* — used only if you enable the Google Drive backup, to communicate with the Google Drive API.

Apart from Google's own sign-in and Drive services used by the optional backup, the extension contacts no other network destinations.

7. Data retention and deletion

• Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can clear it using the extension's data controls, by removing the extension, or by clearing the browser's extension storage.
• If you enabled Google Drive backup, delete rateraide_2_0_sync_data.json from your Google Drive to remove the cloud copy.

8. Children's privacy

The extension is intended for working raters and is not directed to children. It collects no data from anyone beyond what is described above (locally, on the user's own device).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected in this document with a new effective date.
